Donald Trump yet to define position on anti-Russian sanctions
WASHINGTON, May 26 (PRIME) -- U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet defined a position on anti-Russian sanctions, Gary Cohn, chief economic advisor to Trump and director of the National Economic Council, told reporters late on Thursday.
“I think the president is looking at it. Right now, we don’t have a position,” he said, adding that Trump has “many options” to consider.
Representatives of NATO held a large-scale discussion of anti-Russian sanctions, he also said, adding that the G7 summit will also discuss the topic besides economic issues and China.
Relations between Russia and the West worsened in 2014 due to a military conflict in Ukraine. The West introduced sanctions against some Russian individuals and firms and against the oil, gas, and banking industries. In response, Russia limited food imports from some countries, including the U.S., the E.U., Canada, Australia, and Norway.
